There is a 2.5 and 2.4 kernel patch available for the SanDisc USB disk

Here are some `funnies' that I have found with USB hard disks. Strictly
off topic for `Re: [Cooker] kernel panic debugging' but it may help.

Isn't this a bit brutal, considering that everything either depends in
/lib or /usr/lib versions of this file ? Are you moving over to a
different PThread standard / model / POSIX compliancy or what ? I have

I think I'll have to wait for the kpppd dial out daemon to appear :-)

However TT fonts still look pretty rough in Mozilla and Opera, maybe

Hello,
Isn't it about time that a single user Linux box could do auto dial up ?
I mean if window$ can do it I'm sure Linux can too. I've tried with
diald and had very mixed results usually not working at all. I read
somewhere that ppp was capable but I have never managed to get it to

It appears to be a Cooker problem.

Thanks for that Vinny.
I eventually found a patch for the 2.4 kernel tree which apparently the
kernel developers are refusing to add to the kernel source. However I
applied the patch to the 2.5.33 source and the ScanLogic USB-IDE bridge
now works perfectly :-)

Is this why my USB disk caddy that uses a ScanLogic USB-IDE bridge
doesn't 'work' ?
I can mount an USB storage device that doesn't have the USB-IDE bridge
