Hello Tobias,
I tried around a bit. Thank you very much for your hints.
In principle the presets (Voreinstellung in german) do what I want. But
are there meant to be used for such a case?
What happens if I create 200 presets - one for each album I want to
create? Therefore I'm asking: Is is

Hello Remco,
thanks a lot for your answer:
I understand that I can select a filmroll and make an AND-search on e.g.
pictures with a yellow tag. But I do not see a way to store the this
virtual filmroll so that it appears somewhere as further filmroll or so.
I agree completely with the export
Thank you very much to all of you for your hints.

This may sound harsh, but if you have to correct 500 folders,
I was talking about editing the database directly, outside of Darktable,
using SQL commands -- potentially dangerous, but the only viable way I
could find to relocate several hundred film rolls without re-importing
everything in them.
As far as I know, the Darktable database schema is not document

Hello, thanks for your answser.
I'm not sure if I understand you correctly.
How do you edit the database? Opening darktable and then correcting the

When I need to rename/relocate film rolls *en masse*, I usually rename each

Hello,
I finally managed to move from iPhoto to darktable by using the software
"phoshare" on the mac and a lot of bash-programming on linux. Now I'm starting
to use darktable and see how powerful it is. Already now I think, moving was
the correct choice.
Still a few questions:

As I understand it, film rolls in Darktable correspond directly to
filesystem directories, so if you want new names for the film rolls you
will need to rename the directories.

Hello Hanatos,
I already tried my first importing on the dataset of the last year:
in iPhoto my photos are stored on a yearly basis followed by a daily
basis (e.g. 2016/31.10.2016/1.NEF).
So when I am importing the folder 2016 recursively I will get as many
filmrolls as there are folders

Hi everybody,
I've been using Apples iPhoto since its beginning. I think now its the
time to move to a better system like darktable.
As I'm really familiar with iPhoto now, so maybe I just do not
understand the mechanism how photos are arranged in darktable:
I tried to import the "Originals
