Just a heads up for Gene: for when you upgrade one of your machines (or replace disks). Linuxcnc is now a full package in Debian at least on amd64 (and possibly on arm64). It pulls in large amounts of dependencies, so I didn't install it myself but apt-cache show linuxcnc should give you the
