i965 (installed as BJC 8200+foomatic drivers), attached locally via USB.

I'm guessing that the attached PDF file must have been scanned from a
hard copy without the use of OCR software, and the resulting image
converted to PDF.
The output of pdffonts Anyons_Wilczek_1982.pdf (I modified the filename when I

Evince uses poppler to render text in PDF files. Changed package from
Evince to poppler.
I solved the rendering problem (missing text) by using Synaptic Package
Manager to install poppler-data. The file now renders fine, as far as I
can tell.

With Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 I also see the box containing the message
"Enable 3D View". According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDF ,
Acrobat Reader 5 only supports version 1.4 of the PDF standard. I

I've found out why poppler-data is not installed by default. It's in
multiverse because it's non-free.

you're getting the same results with evince and xdvi, do you mean that
both display the document, or both do not display the document. Did you
want Valentas to provide a screenshot of what he's expecting, or what
he's experiencing.
Please check that the paper size setting in your printer configuration
matches the size of the paper that is actually in your printer. The
default size is usually US Letter, here in Australia we normally use A4
paper and so the size setting must be changed to A4.

think it's just a matter of the non-printable area of your printer being

@Christoph - The issue shown in evince-print-preview.png is the same one
as what I've just described above, and is to be expected on most
printers as they are unable to print to the edge of the paper. You may
be able to fix it using the suggestion I gave to Christoph.

The printout from Evince in 9.10 matches the print preview. There is a
red vertical line on the left of the page but there are enlarged blank
margins. In Lucid the print preview looks correct, but when I print
onto paper I have the opposite problem. The top, left and right margins
are much small
On 10.04: Reducing the Scale: setting on the Page Setup tab of Evince's
printing dialog allows all ot the right and bottom edges of the document
to be printed, at the expense of larger blank margins on the right and
bottom. The left and top edges of the document are still chopped off.

solves the "0a" problem of the original poster (embedded fonts), but
there are also other "0a" problems which are not covered (other embedded
binary data, like pictures or so).
