Does that mean we ignored users? I don't think so. Carl DiSalvo's talk
was all about community empowerment. Gabe White's was on the effect

Crowdvine turned out to be an incredible tool for Interaction08. It
served as a great pre-mingling before the conference to get the ball
rolling, especially the want-to-meet feature.
But it could be greatly improved with post-conference features.

Hi Marc,

I agree with your statements, (and now will proceed to go on a wild tangent
- sorry) but I think that Crowdvine whether they intended for this to happen
or not generates a new type of community post-conference, and that is the
one where we interact without the need for an interface (or middle man
Hello,
I'm writing this from my hotel room at Interaction 08, where we're about to
start the final day of the conference. Kudos to everyone involved. I imagine
you've caused hundreds of thousands of good conversations. I'm well into the

I think most of us would agree that one of the principles that underlies our
practice is that we want to turn outward from ourselves and work from an
understanding of, and genuine concern for, the people whose lives are change
when our work ships.
Congrats! And thanks or all the hard work put in by Dan, Dave and
others. I'm really excited about this conference. Can't wait to see
you all there.

HI Jeff, we have a total of 400 attendees.
We put a student cap (not counting SCAD ID Volunteers) @ 50. So there
will be as many as 65 students present. That also doesn't count
faculty.

Hey there gang,
Energy is buzzing about Interaction08 and our only real down side is that
all 6000 of you can't come to Savannah and be a part of it.
We have been really inspired by all that is going on with Interaction08 and

Hi David,

It all sounds so fascinating, but I'll have to meet you all in 2009
for the next conference. Funds won't allow two trips for 2008.
Anyway, I would love to hear all about it and I hope the speakers
will post their presentations.

Heyup Matt...
Highlighting bad interaction design from the organisation is a fair
thing to point out. That said, one of the key traits of a good
interaction designer is their ability to explain issues to
developers.
Being able to crit someone's work, in a constructive way, is a very

I'm not saying Designers need to code, I dont really code anymore.
I am saying that I've seen enough developers get pissed off when all
it takes are essentially two simple steps.
1)Understand why something is the way it is.
To address the main point of Matthew's post. I would suspect that the

well the conference itself is). Maybe gather under your interest

Thanks David, that's a great suggestion.
I will check out that site to see if we can connect under various

I'm sure there are lots of social type events planned for the weekend
as well, so I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of you there.
