yesterday, three weeks after the failure was initially reported. The
manufacturer was most appologetic, saying that my emails were
inadvertently caught in an AppleMail spam filter.
To make up for the mistake they cross-shipped
I don't think Slimserver 6.5 is MySQL 5 ready yet, and I believe that
there are outstanding bugs filed on this. If I remember correctly,
there is a problem with one of the data definitions that Slimserver
uses. Try installing MySQL 4.1 and using that version. It works just
fine for me.

latest (version 1.1 of update 2006-002) and am using SlimServer 6.2.1.
Absolutely NO problems. It started at login, and I have been able to
listen, to stop and restart the preference pane and so on. So it looks
as if it must

bunch of magnets and coils together without much shielding it'll be

I was trying to back up my music folder to a separate hard drive using
SyncToy's echo function. I had reformatted the hard drive I was
backing up to because it contained some corrupted files. Everything
seemed to go fine, but now I can't access any of the files on the new
drive, and the files

After resetting the MAC of my player, on the advice of slim support due
to a bug with Squeeze Network, my player is no longer connecting to my
network. I think it is a problem with it's DHCP function as when it
obtains an IP address it is totally unlike that of the other devices on

Yes. Don't format your drive. The Quick Install utility is slightly
misleadingly named. It's more of a configuration utility. All I've used
it for is to map drives and to check the IP address of the Qnap.

I got it! Wrap the bike in aluminum foil! Actually, that may not be a
bad idea, if you can isolate the unit spewing EMI try to cover it with
a box lined with aluminum foil. It wouldn't cost you more than $2 to
try and I'd love to hear the result.

Are you sure that it'd reach
If it obtains an IP address unlike the rest of your network (i.e.
168.xxx) then can't access your wireless network at all. It has
nothing to do with DHCP, it can't communicate with your router.
Do you have MAC address filtering activated in your router?
You haven't changed wireless passphrases
Strangely I just did ~12 minutes on the bike and the Squeezebox worked
flawlessly...
It was certainly reproducible yesterday.
Oh well, at least I got everyone's brain cells working. :-)

I've certainly had that happen before. And it nearly aways comes down
to bad metatags in my audio files. You might try using some of the
debug flags (e.g. --d_scan) and see if you can spot an offending file.
Then try removing that file from your library and scanning again.

I have disabled MAC filtering (called Access Control on my Netgear
DG834GT)to no avail, (the SB2 had worked with this turned on before
anyway)and also entered the reset MAC address into the access control
list, agian to no avail. The SB connects to the router when I disable
all security settings,
Was the SB in the same physical location relative to the bike ? The rf
from the bike may be quite directional.

I've run with no problems anywhere from 40% to 60% and occasionally
lower. It might depend on outside inteference factors which could
cause problems even at 50% or more. Evidently, I don't have anything
