(minijack) speaker. I've swapped the SB3 with my portable MP3 player
and then it works fine, so it's not the speaker itself. I have no other

He/she did NOT say "Simserver is shutting off the PC", but said
"Slimserver is shutting off ON the PC".
So presumably meaning that SlimServer quits, or something similar, aand
not that the whole PC shuts down.

Sometimes the channels are reversed. I did not test it thoroughly, but
at least some flacs play with channels reversed, then flip back. I am
running SB-G and slimserver 6.5.0.

I need this issue fixed. When I click to start slimserver all it does is
continue to try to start up. No window pops up, nothing else happens.
It just says SlimServer Starting when I mouse over the icon in the

Actually, just doing some more troubleshooting I discovered that the
upnp service is being advertised by MythTV, which is running on the
same server as slimserver. I also found that by shutting dow

I have an FM tuner that stays tuned to just one local station. The
station has an Internet feed but it's as crappy as most - something
like 32kbps - and I actually listen to music when I listen to it.

Since moving my router I have been having trouble with various symptoms
of dropouts and stuttering. The router is now on the opposite side of
the microwave from the SB3. I think I got the stuttering cured by
moving the router a little further away from the wires and DVR for my
security system.

I am at work streaming remotely currently, so when I get home I will
check to see if scanner exe is still running or not. About 2 hours
ago, I clicked the rescan button, so my home page still shows
slimserver still scanning, but that is not that unusual.

As far as I know, the SB has clean, constant power. It's right where
its been sitting for the last 15 months or so, operating smoothly.
Same applies for the other SB that is downstairs. Of course, we have
cats, so I guess you never know if they are pulling on a power cord

Yes most of the time I play local music. Nearly all of it is in mp3
format 192kbs.

My server always "says" it is still re-scanning, but I know the scan has
stopped when my hard drive light stops blinking. I've left it for 2 days
and it still says re-scanning when I know darned well it has stopped.

Are you plugged into an AV receiver? Many of them have way of adjusting
the relative volume of each input via the setup menu in order to
balance them all out.
On my Integra receiver it is called "Intellivolume" and I can adjust
each input from -6db to +12db. Very useful.

they had fixed the problem by downgrading to 6.5.0 so I installed 6.5.0
on a different machine (a Mac) and my squeezebox worked fine! I then
