I chose a set of tools from the replies you all gave me. I used Album
Art Downloader to get the album art, and jSqueeze Export Utility from

In my case the SlimServerMySQL service was also stopped, but I was able
to set it and the SlimServer service to Automatic and that was all I

Huh, I can't find a my.cnf file anywhere in slimserver, and it has
nothing to do with the dns refresh - server just stopped again,
something very close to exactly 24hrs after the last time, but nothing
in the router log. Think I'll just have to update to 6.5.1 and see what
happens?

I'm having trouble connecting the player to my slimserver after a power
outage. It seems that the player is in fact able to connect to my
computer as the music folder that shows on the player is the "sample
folder" from My Documents folder.

there is one exception: ogg-vorbis.
it is played/decoded natively in SB3, but can not FF/REW.
has to do with the way the SB3 currently decodes streams and has them
served by slimserver.

UI latency is generally caused by slowdowns in SlimServer which have
nothing to do with the hardware interface being on the other end of a
network connection. Trying to fit the capabilities of SlimServer into
an embedded device would be impossible if it were any less capable than
a complete PC.

I think you could also use some of Erland's excellent plugins such as
Dynamic Playlist and Trackstat. You can then put Ratings of 1-5 on your
songs (I guess you'd rate all of your favorite songs as 5) and then
create a plylist that plays everything rated only a 5. You can even
choose which Genres
to follow up on Mark's suggestion:
Fishbone will have drag/drop in at least the playlist part of the skin
starting in SS7.0. Not sure if adding to favorites is part of that
function set. I did some preliminary dinking around with an alpha
version of KDF's fine work, and it's really cool stuff.

You may want to experiment around with different skins. The radically
different ones like Fishbone, Touch/Nokia770 and slimFX might have
drag-and-drop capability, as might the Moose and FatGooey control
programs.
I've never tried this particular operation with them, so I'm not sure
though.

The 10061 error was because you did not set up the socket 3645 for
output - Slimserver will have done it when it starts socketwrapper.
How have you configured ZA and Avast to make sure they don't trip over
each other ?

I doubt it's possible without some soldering: as I remember removing the
text display was a "lossy" process, cutting off some pins.

I have 2 version 1 SBs, one is wireless and without the graphic upgrade, and
the second is wired and with the graphic upgrade. Is it possible to swap the

Is there no one having issues with AAC files after upgrading to 10.4.9?
Damn! no one to verify or refute my suspicions. Hope it wasn't going to
have to come to this... looks like I'm going to have to downgrade to
10.4.8 to see if that fixes the problem.

You could get a lot of different responses on whether or not to use a
preamp. Search the forums for this, there are a lot of discussions. I
can tell you that many people do not use a preamp and run directly from
the squeezebox to the amplifier, but there have been rare instances of a
'white noise
Well now I am Mr Happy - I recieved my SB3 on Sunday (Thank You Her
Indoors) so now I have to work on sorting all my tag info out, whilst
listening at home and work.

The problem with NAS devices is they just aren't. Conceptually the NAS
boxes such as QNAP were originally specced for serving files to a
