Has anybody experienced that scaling down of cover arts in the
web-interface is introducing artifacts?
I have all my albums cover arts scanned in and saved at 500x500 as jpg
images, however some looks pretty bad when scaled down by

There will always be artifacts - but they shouldn't be as bad as you see it on
your samples :-/. Are you running SC on a ReadyNAS?

I saw this a while back when using TITLE(ARTIST) format. I don't have

I have a cover in all my music maps, named cover, and it´s a jpg. But

Sounds like your network is setup in such a way as to prevent the SB
from reaching the internet itself. This usually happens when you
manually setup the network settings and have wrong values for gateway
or DNS server. So the SB can see your server (to play local files) but
when you ask it to play

It's a big problem, and currently the only radio service that supports
replay gain is Pandora. It would be cool if live radio streams could
provide some kind of header with a gain value to apply. Or if the
player could auto-apply gain, but not sure how feasible that is.

I wish SC could have a setting allowing one to set a default reduction
for audio sources which lack a specified replay gain, so if one
listened to internet radio there could be, say, a default -8 dB
applied. That should be pretty easy to implement, in wait for a more
sofisticated solution.

Yeah a static value for anything without gain would work, but the
results would not be very good.

I just discovered the root cause of the scanning problem - I disabled
the McAfee on-access virus scanner and the scan now completes
successfully (including Artwork Scan and DB optimisation).

Yes, I was experiencing similar behaviour before it was due to McAfee
VirusScan preventing SqueezeCenter from writing certain files to disk.
As you discovered by disabling it, VirusScan is the culprit. To solve
this problem, I set my it to scan executables and documents only.

Have you downgraded to 6.5.3 to verify the problem goes away? The only
change to wireless code was a bug fix for WPA group key renewal. If
you're running WPA, it could be a bug in your router that wasn't being

you've got a fairly large collection, laptop drives don't offer power
savings. Yes, they're low wattage, but they're also low capacity.

This what I got when running cdda2wav on my Intel iMac, OS 10.5.2, with
a disk in the internal drive (I also have an external drive that was
switched off).

I coded up CDplayer to recognise OSX but I didn't test the codepaths.
If you want to try - just enter the device name into the device name

I usually stick my controller in the cradle when I go to bed and pull it
out when I eat breakfast. It lasts all day and usually wants a charge
before bed. I suspect that it won't last as long during a party
environment, but it should last.

Try updating using the SD card method. The one time my Controller got

Each version of the server has a related SBC version (or set of

i think, i read that you should rename the file to jive.bin ? or will it
work anyway.
I'm perfectly happy running 7.0.1 otherwise, as it sort's out many
other things.
It's says on the site that 7.0 is the safe and stable, but my
experience is that most of the time the beta is better.

The Receiver was designed to be used with the Controller, so no IR
control is needed. Even if there were an IR sensor there, there's no
display to see what's going on, so navigation is essentially
impossible.
Since you bought a Duet and it came with the Controller, why wouldn't
it work?

Before 7.0, I remember being able to add any folder of any name with any
audio files to my hard drive's music folder and my Transporter would
find it and play it.
Recently I added three albums, two from the same artist, by copying the
audio files into the music folder and into appropriate artist/
It should already be called jive.bin...
