passwords but for some reason that's beyond me the exact same version
of SC 7.2 will not run as a service on my laptop, but will on my main
PC. Both machines are XP Pro.
As my laptop is only used as a back up server I've not been

I was going to suggest doing a factory reset, but I know from experience
that going through the controller configuration is no fun. I would only
suggest that as a last resort.

plugin from erland. It allows you to create "New Artists", "New Songs",
and "New Albums" as menus, and these seem to show what is really new

For the record, I was running my Squeezebox off wireless all evening (in
one of the windows where it worked, by chance!). I unplugged the
ethernet cable, and the music kept playing. So, I did factory resets of
both controller and receiver (hopefully for the last time), and
programmed the ethernet

I tried copying playlists from SS 6.x into 7.2 but SS does not see them
regardless of full rescan or playlists only.
I was puzzled and thought something must have changed in the way
playlists are created/handled. So, I created a playlist within SS.
Saved in under a new name and it looked fine.

I just started having the same problem with one of my Squeezeboxes. I
switched my keys out on the router, changed my SSID, etc, and it just
reboots when try to enter the keys. I'll try the factory reset tonight
and if that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to hard wire it for now

time stamp if it bothers you. I've just gotten used to anytime I fix a
tag or something it will show up in the new music folder. Also if you

But first (because it will cost nothing and take very little time) :
I would put SC and some music onto a laptop, take that to your SBR, and
connect with ethernet. Just to be sure that the problem is not a
defective unit.

BTW do you have a spare outlet for such adapters ? If not, then you
should get a higher-speed ethernet powerline adapter : when you use
them with outlet strips their speed is lower than specified.

my suspision. It works fine on a SB3 but not on the SBC and since he
hadn't a SBC he didn't have any plans to port it to the Duet.

Problem is, what you describe is a classic trade-off situation. If you

I have at the moment one playlist in my squeezecenter. If want to add

This is probably a problem with the bandwidth of the station itself and
not with your SB setup. In 'Settings > Advanced > Network' you can try
increasing the size of the radio station buffer and timeout settings.

The behaivor the user saw was not intermittent - it behaved like it had
a very weak signal.
It may have been a temporary glitch. It's wierd though that power
cycling it the first time didn't help. I wasn't until you swapped out
the SB3 and then put the SBR back that the problem went away.

True; although most seem to agree the differences between them are
negligible.
MikeekiM: another thought; is to get a SB Classic (SB3 or SB2) in
conjuction with a SBC (Controller). It's a great setup; albeit a bit
expensive.
