Squeezeplay does not need mysqueezebox.com. It is possible to configure
it without a connection to the internet. There is a way to back out when
it attempts to access mysqueezebox.com, just like you do on the SB
players. If my memory serves me right, I believe you can back out by
pressing the left

Charlie, you're not alone. I like the layout
The lyrics page never bothered me with ipengHD on my ipad. Just ignored
it. On the new iPeng it caused me to actually figure out how to use it.
I'll never be a big lyrics user, but I thought it was kinda cool when I
installed the plugins and could see the lyrics. More for impressing

Thanks, fixed in the next preview release. Sorry for the regression.
Just to be clear:
1. I have no plans to remove the Lyrics page.
2. I can not remove pages because I need at least three or the UI has to
switch to something that only ever supports two (NowPlaying and
Playlist)
3. I need something for iPeng UE, because there you can't have Lyrics,
so either I chan

I only have a Touch, and my advice is probably too obvious, but here
goes.
My hunch is that the Touch's sound quality is better, but whether I'm

I have dbpoweramp, I use it for Flac but it can do ALAC as well? Thanks

Not the version that runs on Windows - or at least I couldn't figure out
how. And I have a vague memory that a clean server install also wanted
to talk to mysqueezebox.com - but that my not be true or true anymore.

Well in terms of SQ it's no contest - I've had the Pioneer N50 on loan
for review, streaming from my Macbook Air via airplay was nowhere near
as good as the same files on a flash drive plugged into the port on the
front fascia.
Pity really as this could have been a SB replacement (most of my files

Interesting, so an ITouch loaded with ALAC files and a reciever that
supports Airplay would compare to my touch playing flac? -Bob

In terms of functionality, yes, more or less. The comparability of the
sound quality would depend in large part on the receiver, including its
DAC.
And of course, the iTouch's max capacity of 64GB translates into maybe
200 - 250 albums in ALAC, so even people like me with a modest music

I would love to send a crash report :) my iPeng install on my iPad 1 is

Oh, but "in the backgound" on an iPad 1 is really normal, that's not a
crash.
Apps get killed in the background by the OS if the OS needs their
memory. And iPad 1 is _really_ short on RAM, that's also why there is no
iOS 6 for it.
It has as much Ram as an iPhone 3GS but needs to process 2.5 times

Possible but Doubtful on several dimensions. Keep your squeezebox touch!

Actually, if you have iTunes open (PC or Mac) and home sharing on you
should be able to stream your entire library via Airplay using your iPod

Yes, of course it's doable for Apple. That doesn't mean it's "doable"
for other App developers. You have zero control. You can t

Again: memory use aside it depends much more on what you run in the
foreground than on the background App.
SqueezePad always stays running in the background for 10 minutes, that

No, the blue screen sometimes even shows when the App is in fact still
just suspended. I believe it's when iOS has freed up the last screen
shot of the App it made when you left it (which is what gets shown
otherwise) or if the orientation has changed. The latter obviously never
happens with Squee

I have no experience other than Windows OS. Squeezeplay for Windows does
work without mysqueezebox.com. I don't have a mysqueezebox account and
I'm able to set it up anyway. As mentioned, there is a key combination
to back out of the initialization process. It works like it does on the
SB players.
