Maybe I should have made it clear that Logitech support fulfilled my
request for a replacement remote (and more). Try them. I thought the

Have you tried looking at the scanner log? It might help you track down
the problem.

the firmware on your players is updated (if required) and then try
playing a couple of tracks (without changing any settings!).
If this doesn't fix it then there's a ghost in your machine.

idea of what music is for. On example of this
is that not all music is made to be heard live and therefofe the
model you propose will not work for musicians making this the sort of
music as they will not be able to gain renumertion for their work
through playing live.

Have a look at screen settings. I think you could set up the analogue
screen saver to kick in after a few seconds, turn off other screen
savers and turn off screen dimming.

If I go to My Computer and add the path:
C:\Program Files\Softsqueeze\softsqueezeHeadless.exe to the location
bar and hit enter the process is started and all works fine, so why
can't the service start it?

If I could work out how to run Squeezeslave as a Windows Service and
this meant that the dos box did not open it would be fine.
Then all it needs to is to be seemlessly integrated into SlimCenter

the Jive Controller. Compared to the web interface and the old remote
this is very dumbed down (overall a lot simpler, less buttons, less

If you set it to run as a service ensure that the account you set it to
run it under has network priviledges. If you don't understand that then
set it to run as an application instead. You can change how it runs in
the SqueezeCenter start bar menu items.

I'd install Esets NOD32.. so much politer and well designed. Works
pefectly without hassling you at all. Extremely low machine overhead..
very unlike most of the legacy bloatware apps out there (Nortons and
McCafees being the very worst of the bunch).

Windows XP 1.5ghz P4 with 1gb Ram. It's stuffed to the
gills with software and hardware addons.
I have a beta remote and will buy a second for upstairs as soon as they
are in the shops. For me the jive remote has made SlimServer and my
SlimDevices come of age (at last).

What possible justification can there be for this almost 40% price hike
