To me, this would be the killer reason to start buying music downloads.
If indipendant music stores can sell older albums for £5 why can't we
get out of print releases for £1 - £2. I can think of several albums
i'd like
MP3s. I think it is limited to 802.11b with WEP (ie. pathetic)
security. It also resamples everything you play to 48Khz instead of
playing at the normal 44.1Khz so there is a reduction in sound quality
there.

the UK seems to be a prety big market for the SB, and i guess the pre

New Music also goes by the File Modified time stamp, so if you have
edited your tags recently (for example) the the tagger at changed the
File Modified date, then it will be bumped up the New Music list. All
the decent taggers should have an option to change the time stamps or
not.

By default SlimServer will choose the best transcoded format for the
client it is streaming too. For you this means it will be streaming as

There is no way to do this currently. I guess a plugin could be written
to do this.
I think this has come up before, but some poeple get twitchy about the
implications of this. Especially when you can make the SlimServer
interface available online really easily.

Nope, it's been there for years! In fact as long as there has been
skins this has been possible, and that going back a long long time.
To help with processor load, you could turn off ALAC to FLAC transcoding
and just stream WAV, that would leave a lot more head room for running
SqueezeSlave or SoftSqueeze.

You don't need to use the bridging function for this.
All control is done though SqueezeCenter, just open a web browser and
point it to http://:9000/ and you will get the web
interface from your iMac.

But if you leave ALAC to WAV checked and un-check the rest that will
produce the least procesing load on the server. It may still nto work,
but it will give you the bes
