Of course, you can buy a cable at Radio Shack and connect the audio output
from your Mac to the audio input an another Mac and record it. This
arrangment will degrade the quality a little, but since RealAudio is not

Sorry John, your soldering capability won't help until you diagnose the
problem. It could be on one or more of several boards (main logic, CPU,
I/O-Power), and the only practical way to diagnose it is to swap boards on
the bench with known good boards. As Tom said, you need a "parts" machine.

I would not try this if I were you. The plugs are usually molded on. The
pins are spaced much tighter than what connectors were in the "old days" (5
years ago), and finally the wires may be litz wire which I've never been
able to solder with a soldering iron. I don't know how they do it.

P.S. What I need are the System Extension files which are Open Transport
2.0 (2.0.3?). This probably means any file in your Extensions folder which
has a name beginning with "Open Transport" or "Open Tpt", if these are
