Thanks, Craig .. the device you are referring to is made by Iogear:
GUC232A - USB to PDA/Serial Adapter ... found it on Google.
However, I am going straight in to a serial port on a Dell Latitude D400
notebook ... so I think the problem lies elsewhere.
Thaanks again.

Thanks Wayne and Eric,
ARC will certainly appreciate all contributions. In this one area of one
shelter in TX, more than $1.5 million in aid was given out to evacuees just
last week. The needs are many, and another storm is on the way!

Thanks to gary (elecraft support) and don (w3fpr)
for all the help with my KI02 and the ssb module.
They are both working now! The kio2 had a solder bridge
on one of the connector wires and the ssb module needed
a new U1.
Thanks to all for the help!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You were right. Apparently the end of
RFC15 attached to the cap was either not connected or had a poor connection.
I touched up the connections with the iron and it works like a charm now!

I recently had an intermittent problem on my K2 when switching and tuning

Jess,
The real answer to your problem is that the KPA100 wattmeter is not
producing voltage onto the VRFDET line back to the base K2.
Look at the schematic sheet 1 of 2 and you will find the wattmeter and the
circuits that develop the VRFDET signal on the upper right side of that
diagram. Check

If you are switching the antenna from one transceiver to another by some
manual method (relays or a switch), I should think that there should be
adequate isolation if you were to switch in either a 50 ohm dummy load on
the unused K2 or simply a short across the antenna terminals if
