RE: [Elecraft] Help! None of the front panel controls are working

Hi Koert, Maybe you could check the circuitry around U2 on the frontpanel board and see if you get 5V at pin 16. Also you could check if the pushbuttons do react by measuring the voltages on the pushbuttons towards the U2 (3,4,5,6,11,12,13,14). Voltage is multiplexed by the bank1 and bank0 signal

Koert, Check all components to be certain they are inserted with the correct orientation. Not only the ICs and diodes have a direction but the R-PAKs on the front panel board are not reversible, pln 1 os on the left if you are looking at the side with the label. There is a DC voltage table in th

Doug and all, I use a lesser variant of this for a few minutes just prior to getting on the air. My fastest comfortable speed is about 23 wpm, so I'll "send" (transmitter off) at 28 to 30 wpm to practice and get used to the sounds at that speed. Then when I drop down to my normal speed it's

[Elecraft] CW recognition

A mistake I see too many hams making is that they will practice at one speed until they are 100% at that speed before trying anything faster. Very True. You know, on CW, I kinda like being at about 65 to 70% comprehension. Can't take it for long but it's more "exciting" (too strong a word)

John is right, there is a certain "excitement" in falling behind in the copy and trying catch-up/figure-out what the qso is all about (at least that's the reasoning I use...hi). Great thread. Tom, WB2QDG K2 1103 operating 99.9 % CW (comfortable at 15 wpm, ok at 20, lost at 25) ---
