I have never used my K2 on SSB but have the option fitted.
I have a Yaesu MH-31B8 dynamic microphone that I would like to use.
Has anyone tried this mic? and did you need a pre-amp?

Wire the K2 mic header for the Yaesu configuration (I highly recommend
using wirewrapping if you can locate/borrow a tool and some #30 wire)
and that mic should work FB.
If you want to check on the mic gain, hold DISPLAY to indicate ALC and
check to see how many ALC bars are illumina

I noticed last night that when I change filters from FL1 (opt1) to FL2
(700hz) in CW mode, the received signal shifts down in frequency by
about 20Hz. Likewise, in CW-N mode, it shifts up by 20Hz. The other two
filters are right with FL1. The shift only occurs with FL2. I didn't

A bit more on the "what can the K1 do" front. I completed my K1 #02326
on Feb 26, 2007. It went together flawlessly. I have worked 3 QSOs
this morning from the mobile on 40 meters with a Workman hamstick.
Since Feb 26, I have worked 414 QSOs in 48 DXCC entities and 29 states.

Have had a few queries about the "MDR" earbuds I mentioned in the KX1
writeup. They are made by Sony, MDR being the model-number prefix. There
are several varieties. The ones I'm using are MDR-E828LP, available new
on the auction site for around USD$5.00 plus shipping. They're

Neat looking device, but you'd have to find a place to put it. They depend
on removing the DB-9 and using that space. You'd need to keep the DB-9 for
it's AUX IO purposes. Might be simpler to use one of those $10 Serial to USB
cables.
At $80, it would sure hurt!

It certainly speeded things up using your kit which I thoroughly
recommend.
Also thanks to Larry N8LP as I built his LP200 kit and this has been
very useful for power checks.

for less than 200 bucks (160 or 180). The one I purchased is a URM-25D. It
does AM and CW modulation (no FM). They said it worked...and it did, but the
