My posting on Mics got some strange responses mate. I use an old Turner+2
(34 years old) and it gets perfect audio reports all the time.
I was following the posts on Mics so I thought maybe a "Super Mic" was a way
for Elecraft to increase sales.

overpriced and have lousy audio. One gets much nice transmit audio using good
quality dynamic microphone rather than those cheap elecret cartridges.

AGC is AGC. It is not per band, it is per radio :-)
I do not know of a radio with per band AGC settings, or per season.
Most radios don't let you adjust the threshold or slope -- or the decay
rate of FAST and SLOW.

It already works on receive. Its in-line for both TX and RX. If you have

today. Best of all they are "on clearance" for $14.97. Normal price is
$29.99.
They sound pretty good especially if you enable the audio effects.

I see the same extra stripe using mixw and an RF generator. I had to turn
down the line out of the K3 to 001 and crank up the sound card to max
inorder to eliminate it. The level is a bit weak now and needs more gain.
There is something not quiet right here.

Have you downloaded the latest firmware? Perhaps this is an AGC
issue, where the pops and cracks from the QRN are louder than they
"should" be? The AGC has been recently tweaked...

Barry, I used a "trim" washer (very thin) from a spare headphone jack I had
laying around to fill the gap. As I recall it was about 0.018" thick and
was perfect. The knurled nut tightened down without deforming the front
panel at all.

With my antenna input grounded, the S meter reads 0. With the ATT on, the S
meter reads S3 with some random movement. Yes it is strange. I should never

Both the Elecraft Hex Key and the Brown Brothers BTL-A paddles work great. I
like the stability of a paddle that has little or no vertical movement of
the paddle arms. The Hex key is heavy but the Brown Brothers is easier to
adjust.

headphone jack loose washer issue. Is there a recognised cure. Can you leave
