Diamond because the line SWR is so high. Whatever is causing the high
SWR from the antenna is causing all kinds of problems with RF in the

Another cause of intermittent raspy audio during both transmit and receive
could be a dicey solder joint in the KSB2's crystal filter circuit. If one
of the bandwidth settings you have chosen for the variable bandwidth crystal
filter is 1.8 kHz or wider, try switching to this filter sett
L34 is not in the transmit path, so eliminate that from suspicion.
Put the BFOs for FL1 (must be OP1) back on the correct sidebands, then
try the following. If you have questions about the proper passband
placement, review Part 3 of the K2 Dila Calibration article on my
website www.w3fpr.com.

Based on your "sharp whack" cure, but yes, that does usually indicate a
solder problem (or something loose).
I would first check RFC15 on the bottom of the board - it is connected
to pin 16 of U4 - check it with an ohmeter, even if it is open, it will
measure 5 volts on both ends. Since

I have finally gotten to the final alignment portion of my K2 and have found
power out problems on 3 bands, 80, 15, and 17 meters. The measurements follow:
Band:2 watts setting 5 watts setting 10 watts setting
80 m. 2.0watts out1.8 watts

Yes. The K3 "width" display represents the audio bandwidth.
In AM the RF bandwidth is twice the audio bandwidth. Note
however, that the bandwidth display is somewhat confusing

When tuning for example across an AM band (like 49m band)
it does not happen on all stations. Might be that it
happens on some certain frequency interval but still
quite frequent.
I have not done experiments with different tuning steps,

steps, but not in small steps. Either way if I have them
they are very difficult to hear.

After installing the 6.0 kHz AM filter I notice the Max DSP b/w is 5.0 and the
Shift center is 1.5 kHz.
Is this the normal set up?

it up from the ParcelForce depot in Perth on the 18th March. It took me
