Hello Paul: The brightness of the P3's internal LCD display is set by going to MENU:LCD BRT. The brightness of the external monitor is set by the monitor's own controls. The manual doesn't cover the external monitor because they vary with each monitor. See you monitor's manual for that adjustment.
