Greetings to all,
My K2/100 ser. no. 3595 has served faithfully with nary a niggle for almost two
decades now. It did receive a thorough alignment and 60m upgrade, courtesy of
Don Wilhelm, approx. two years ago. It now excites an Ameritron AL-80BQ.
I also own a Yaesu FT-991a (Purchased for its
d RF voltmeter.
Used it constantly both for design and for troubleshooting during many
construction projects.
I think the kinds of enhancements being discussed here will be a valuable
addition to the K4 and encourage additional discussion.

Great commentary on the venerable K2. I had an experience that some on this
reflector might find interesting. I purchased a Yaesu FT-991A solely for the
purpose of VHF/UHF SSB/CW. (Our local group's been buggin' me to join them
on 2m SSB, hihi.)

Get the 1.8 if you work ssb. Experiment with shifting the pass band for
maximum clarity. Youll be amazed just how narrow it can get and still be
understandable.

I agree 100%! It's really a form of bullying censorship. Learn how to set up

I took a KX3, coax and coil of wire in carryon through Reagan to JFK and to
Israel on El AL. That is the toughest security route in the world. No one
said a thing or asked about it. Brought it back in checked and Xrayed
luggage. Again not a peep.
I was prepared with a copy of an ad showing wha
of chalk hitting blackboard. That “leading
edge”, the audible signal that something important may follow, is an “attention
getter” that physicists and mathematicians will always be attuned to. It can
be heard about 2 minutes into your clip.

spaced a fair distance apart in terms of wavelength. I certainly didn't have
that here (K9AY and inverted L only about 60 feet apart). Even with your one
acre, you might not have enough separation, depending on your layout.

Eric, please don't shut this thread down. I have gleaned so much useful
information and personal opinions re. this K3/43 ft. vertical antenna
combination. I'm pretty confident that there are others who feel similarly.
I'm not really sure how "noise ratio" or SNR truly pertains to a reflector
