According to the shipping status page on the web site, they start

Eric Swartz -
my K3.
I avoid HF contests, but understand the attraction. I do not work a
lot of HF DX, but that was what got me interested in ham radio. I do
not operate on CW very much (but it was how I started out in 1958
with a Novice license on 40m). BTW it still is the main mode for EME
though
I used the original AT-100Pro with my FT-857D for several years and
really liked it. For me, it did an admirable job. I don't have any
experience with the other two tuners. In fact, my K3 (#281) has the
KAT3 internal tuner. One push tuning and I'm done. No power
adjustments to remember,
have just received
the boards from assembly and they need to be tested and packaged in
manufacturing here. Also, we are in final testing on the firmware for
the SVGA.

So, then, this begs a question. I have a K3 with an Ameritron AL-811H.

I tried keying my amp off the red cable on the foot switch, I didn't get

Thanks, all, for the replies. Now I'm more comfortable that I'm reading

Tim,
For what it's worth, I don't use VOX on digital modes and it works just
fine. Right now I use DM-780, and don't remember off the top of my head
how I'm keying the rig.

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions. I tried using RTTY mode
this evening, and it works like a charm. Now I just need a watt meter

and I should have mine mid- to late week next week.
Thanks again and 73,

I have a question about tuning an AL-811H amplifier with my K3. When I
used my FT-857D in the shack, I would tune to the antenna in FM mode.
However, I don't have the FM filter on my K3. I tried tuning the amp
using AM, but I don't have that filter either. So, what is the best
mode to use

To all who provided guidance and answers to my question today, I offer
thanks. Turns out the issue was very much one of pilot error. When in
CW mode, one absolutely *must* remember to enable VOX. :-)
Thanks and 73 to all.

Yeah. As I said in my original posting, I either missed something or
was having a major ID10T moment today. :-)

I found the K3's NB to do a decent job on some types of noise. When needed I
use a Timewave ANC4 for difficult situations (like my neighbor's sodium vapor
flood lights when sputtering out).

I do this with macros configured with the M1-M4 buttons. One button macro for
45 watts to drive my THP amp, another button macro for 100 watts. Fast, easy
