Recently, while reassembling my K2-100 (#2652) after installing a Clifton
Labs IF out module, I managed to pinch the 12V aux wire that connects the
100 watt module to the main board against the right side panel. After the
smoke cleared, I found a lifted trace on the amp board that feeds the 12V

I tinkered with a WS19 and had it on the air and worked a few people
with it. I found out the hard way that there is full transmitter B+ on
the key. Ouch!

I give them a lot of credit for designing and putting
out quality kits. I believe ham radio and Heathkit
sparked a lot of future engineers and techs and I'm
sure these kits will do the same.

I still use the TR-4 for SSB and also have the R4B.
Using the same antenna the Drakes pull in the same
weak signals as my K2 except the K2 eliminates the
QRN/QRM quite a bit better. As far as sound quality,
using the Drake MS-4 cabinet with the original Drake
speaker and comparing it to the K2 st

Greg,
As I recall I received a membership certificate then
had to wait quite a while until the next Quarterly
came out. You may have to wait for the Fall issue but
you should be getting the certificate soon.

Brett,
Can the KPA100 be built without having the K2 on hand?
Contemplating building one while in Fla. this winter
and was not planning to take the K2. Is it possible
to build it and drop it in when I get back or are
there tests etc. along the way that require the K2?
tnx

My Elmers call sign was 2CGI. His name was actually

Under Transmitter there's a place for watts and Volts

The theory was bad enough but what about the 20WPM
code. Had to go back three times before I got it.
Had an awful time. I guess that's one of the reasons
I hated to see the cw requirement go. It was so hard
for me but if you want it bad enough etc. etc.
