I was using the fixed mode, but have since changed the USB adapter to a FTDI
adapter and so far have not had any hang ups, if I do, I'll try changed the
mode to see if that helps.

The Koss SB40 is fine with the K3 if you remove the nasty dynamic insert
and replace with an eletret insert. This is an easy job for the K3 as
the bias components are already built in, and you only need two conductors.

It is a low power USB device, because it does not power anything in the
