You must select sub-mode FSK D to use this feature. Read the manual on Data

I was playing with data modes the other day and my kx3 was happily sending rtty

Joe,
The mode/submode are per band settings. If you did not have your Data

then the results are as to be expected.
In other words, preset the mode and submode prior to a contest.

Wes is correct. Please make sure you check:
1. Baud rate on the K3 should be 45 (if that is what your software is
using)
2. If you have the mark freq set to 915 Hz (pitch) on the K3 then your
soundcard software for RTTY must also be 915 Hz.

If you look at the schematic of the SignaLink, you'll see that it is redundant
to what is already built into the K3. In addition, the K3 has a stereo audio
out interface, facilitating the use of software for AFSK that recognizes dual
RX for split frequency DX chasing.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for your e-mail.
Kok Chen emailed me privately with the cause of the problem:
AFSK-A requires that you to use the same
transmit tone pair on your sound card as in the rig. I.e., if you set
the rig to use the 2125/2295 tone pair, your software needs to also
use that tone pair.
HI Frank,

That's why mine is working, as the tone pairs match.
