I have KX3 SN : 8857, the VFO tuning knob came loose and seems to want to pull

Did you pull the rubber cover off the knob? There’s a hex screw under there.
It may have loosened enough for the knob to slip up on the shaft far enough to
be free wheeling. You can adjust the tension by pressing the knob closer to
the case..

I got good support when I had problems with my KX3. It was

BTW, my problems turned out to be: (1) Bad BNC connector on
antenna lead. (2) Messed up firmware. The KX3 utility couldn't

Not just RS-232 either. A few years ago I had two band decoders, and
they would work fine on one LPT port but not on the other. Turned out
the questionable port was only delivering 3.3 volts as logic 1, not
quite enough for the band decoder.

The KX3 owner's manual includes a 2-page "Control Panel Reference"
section that provides an overview of the KX3's controls and display.
Here's the link:

The manual is still a work in progress, so there could be typos, etc.

Hello group:
Last night I installed new NiMH batteries (the Powerex 2700 MaH variety) into
my week old KX3 for the first time and set them for a 12 hour charge. After the
charge was complete, the KX3 PS display indicates a power supply voltage of
only 10.8 volts, which drops to well below 10.0
Is the receiver general coverage or ham band only?

Nate, per Wayne's comments and the preliminary data sheet, the KX3 command
set will emulate the K3. I expect you will have no trouble supporting it in
hamlib.

I have switched over to Win4K3. It's a total package with spectrum
display, IP connection to HRD, works well with CWskimmer, and now there
is spotting and a log program, albeit the logging function is still
being worked on. It seems to run much more smoothly than NaP3 with LP
