reference to the current version of EN61010-1 (Safety for lab equipment),

There is no surge (IEC 61000-4-5) requirement in EN 50082-1:1992.
The only AC port test is EFT/Burst, at a test level of 1 kV.

I think ENV 50141 was the only approved standard (of this type)
available in March 1995 (when EN 50082-2:1995 was published).
EN 50082-2 is being replaced by EN 61000-6-2:1999 (DOP 2000-1-1, DOW
2002-4-1). Although I don't have a copy, I assume it references the
newer EN61000-4-6 test standard.
Interesting that this would come up.

that the next version of IEC601-1-2 raises the contact discharge
voltage to 6kV. This doesn't seem like a big change.
If the trend is toward higher voltages in these other standards, I'd like to
find out so we can plan accordingly.

Does anyone know the status of immunity testing in Japan?
Radiated RF, ESD, EFT, Surge, Voltage dip, etc.
I've seen info that their emissions testing is voluntary.
Does this mean that their immunity requirements are years behind
emissions requirements?
