Hello, folks. Can anybody comment on using hall effect switches on a 3 axis
mill for limit / home switches? Seems like they would have some possible
advantages over physical contact switches.

the advantage would be that if you use a HAL sensor you can detect
when the gantry is lifted from your rails during operation
(yes this happens on a MM) and thus you can shutdown automatically
your machine when you see this
