laptops are notorious of overheating and without using
independant BIOS utilities such as i8kutils for controlling the fans,
the unit will more then likely over-heat if depending on BIOS fan
settings.
Also, Dell laptops use to use IBM hard drives until they sold their hard
drive business oversea
h the risk of heating up my good Seagate main hdd or my other CD-RW
devices.

t 5 years (10,20,40GB).
Seems the like the 5-6 year old drives were really good, but then, any
drive purchased recently since 4 years ago, just drop like flies
(>=120GB). Think it's a multitude of factors including heat, and cheap
parts. To include an engineering defect not being abl
with keeping the drive cool. (See notes on the web
concerning this method.)
Other then this, if it's under warranty, WD -- if you're lucky -- will
just replace it with another defective drive. Seriously.
Remember. Unbacked-up data is lost data!

i think I also customized my xorg.conf with some synaptic

for newbies who don't know jack-cr*p. Opensuse, like Ubunto, but still
had problems playing online sound & video files and other things such as
Macromedia/Adobe Flash. :-/
Mandrake/Mandriva, things work right out of the box almost usually.
My preference is Gent
antime, just noticed a post to Pvrusb2 mailing list about the
later models having a TX blaster to change channels on cable boxes via
lircd. As to whether it works or not, is still a toss-up imo. Haven't
researched it yet.
