This all worked. I think the problem is the fonts I dl'ed for the gimp. They dont have the .ttf extension, but .pfb. The fonts are in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/freefont and .. .. .. .. .. /sharefont and /URW. My ttf fonts are now available, but the
