Baytril does help with URI's. It is very strong, though, and what gave Lucy
the original diarrhea that started her IBD, so she can't get it. It works well,

thanks Michelle, Polyflex is some sort of penicillin, I think. I just know my local vets and even if I go to the D/FW area, vets seem to give an injection of this for infection. It is long acting so can't be given daily, maybe every other day..They do this even before they put them on daily dose
Thanks, Kerry. Lucy does seem a lot better, knock on wood, from the
Immuno-regulin. Eating up a storm, in fact. Knock on wood again.
So sorry to hear Inky had a backslide, but glad he is on the mend.
What is polyflex?

Hi Michelle, I have been out of touch for a week or so again as Inky has been very sick,too..I posted what has happened with him. His kidneys are failing and with the IBD flare up, it has been a mess for him. He is doing better now, but will just have to keep his fluids and diet in check for bot
vitamin C would probably be terrible for her ibd, though. that's the

I'm relieved to hear Lucy is feeling and eating better. I did give
Gypsy Penicillin injections when her IBD was at it's worst. They didn't
seem to help her, but then nothing seemed to help her at the time.

Poor Lucy, she is in a bad situation.
Can you give her any Vitamin C, or will that kill her IBD?
What about zinc? Anybody know if it's
safe to give cats zinc for URI, like they have human drops of zinc from colds to
go away faster?

Thanks, Leslie. Frank blood (bright red blood) on the outside of
stool does happen with IBD when the problem is in the lower part of the
intestines, which is what she has. So occasionally, when she is having a

Clavamox doesn't seem like the right thing to go back to. Someone mentioned Zithromax. Is there a atomic bomb type antibiotic? Something that just knocks the crap out of the URI, but quickly? My thought is that any new thing to her system will aggravate the IBD, so if you have to introduc
Some vets don't like to use Zithromax... we have to get it at our pharmacy, but it works great! Well worth a try if nothing else has worked. Clavamox is notorious for upset tummies...

Michelle,
I am not a vet, but I know URI's can affect the way
cats eat. They can't small the food. Also the eye
thing could be related to a URI. My vet has used
zithromax to treat stubborn ones...it seems to work.
May you both be blessed.
