Finale's biggest contribution was in being able to assign instrument patches
to notes using expressions programmed for playback. It makes th
Andrew Stiller's book (written over 20 years ago) states that the
transposition for crotales is not standardized, being either written
sounding 1 8ve higher or 2 8ves higher. I'm wondering if a consensus has
developed since Stiller wrote his book.

university and my future was very dark) my father bought me a Macintosh
IIsi, an awfully heavy A3 dot matrix printer and a program. And with that I
became a professional copyist.
Now give a boy a PC and he´ll become a professional
Soundfonts are collections of patches in a format that soundfont-enabled
hardware and software can use.
Fin2004 makes use of a soundfont for its playback (if you choose the
SmartMusic softsynth for playback), so anybody using Fin2004 can make
use of soundfonts.
