I know it's a pain, but at least you can work around it.

To change the *velocity*, a note needs to be rearticulated, but the

In Fin2004, with "human playback" enabled in any of a number of
different styles, smartshapes playback, so there isn't the same need to
mess around with non-printing dynamic marks.
The problem still exists, however that you can't edit the amount of
playback effect for everything yet. Hopefully
Sorry, am I missing something here? Is my world view about to be shattered?
I've always worked under the assumption that hairpins cannot be performed
on any note being held -- in order for the decresc. effect to take place
the note has to be be rearticulated.

If you make no changes to the existing shapes, they work as they should.
Have you created a new shape and saved it? I'm just curious since you
just posted that they work and save fine on the Mac platform. The
existing shapes in the Windows version work as they should -- it's just
when trying
Which version are you using? They don't save properly or work properly
in FinWin2003 or FinWin2004. I don't have 2002 or earlier installed and
don't use them often so I don't recall how far back they've been broken.

They work and save just fi
Well, I got it working fine for sfz, using an executable shape. The main
thing is that the shape, which looks like "\" ends on zero height. This
seems to make it go back to the previous volume.

Any change in velocity or volume needs a correspondingly opposite
expression to change it back.
In Fin2004 where you can create a descriptive text along with the
expression you can create expressions for each occurence, one normal one
to define the accent such as sfz, and one invisibble one (ju
Executable shapes are a travesty in current versions of Finale, you can
create them all day long and they don't get saved. You can edit
existing executable shapes as long as you want and your edits don't get
saved.
They are worse than useless and MakeMusic admit that they don't work right.

I'm thinking it doesn't *literally* disappear.
(Or perhaps I'm just deaf to your imagery?)

Long story, but not really relevant here. It works now.
And articulations don't solve the problem

Actually, upon experiment, I can't. Can someone give me directions on how to
create an expression, which will playback the note it has been assigned to
louder than the previous and following notes? It's imp
