I'm having problems compiling and/or running several packages, including vim, gconf2, and gimp2, because they are looking for a library called libXfixes.3.dylib in /usr/X11R6/lib.Is this library provided by another fink package, or should it be installed with Apple's X11 stuff?I'm running the 10.4

Yes, this does appear to be the problem.
I have a manually-installed version of xfree86-4.4. Checking the creation dates of files in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/config, all files have a creation date of March 2, 2004, except the Imake.rules file, which has a creation date of April 14, 2004.

Any ideas on this error?
if gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I../.. -I/sw/include -I/usr/X11R6/include -DOSMAJORVERSION=7 -DOSMINORVERSION=5 -DBSD44SOCKETS -DIPv6 -DHAS_GETIFADDRS -DARC4_RANDOM -DXBINDIR=\/usr/X11R6/bin\ -DXLIBDIR=\/usr/X11R6/lib/X11\ -DXDMCP -DHAVE_PW_EXPIRE
Sure enough. Removing ccache and ccache-default solved the problem. Thanks for the tip.
Sincerely,
Brooks

Shouldn't the gnuplot package install an executable called gnuplot and/or gnuplotx in the /sw/bin directory? I've installed gnuplot 4.0.0-1 from source, but I don't see any executables with that name.
Is there something I'm missing?

Can anyone point me to a detailed how-to to use distcc installed by fink?
I had distcc working prior to installing Panther and the new developer
tools. Now I can't seem to get the fink-installed version to work. I'm
getting an error that distcc appears to be invoking itself recursively.

For about the last week, I haven't been able to update dpkg or apt. I
haven't seen any discussions on the list about these errors. Is anyone else
seeing these error also? Any workarounds?

I've tried compiling with OpenMotif before. Seems to fix the split windows
problem and also the File:Open problem.
The one bug I've experienced is that when you have multiple windows open,
clicking the close window button crashes the whole program. A work-around is
to select Close from the File

If I want to install openmotif instead of lesstif, how do I convince fink
packages that are dependent on lesstif should be ok with openmotif? For
example, when I try to rebuild nedit with openmotif installed, it insists on

Anyone know of a work-around for this problem in Nedit?
When I open a file using the File:Open command to open a *second* file using
the FileSelectionDialog, the file opens, but the window does not respond to
mouse or keyboard input. I think the problem started with one of the recent
