Alexander,
Thanks for the quick reply. It doesn't matter whether I start GIMP from
the terminal or the Applications menu; it returns the same error
a file. It may be that a message will come
up in the Console that will clarify the situation.

Hi all,
I can't seem to import standard-format (JPEG, TIFF) photos into my
Fink-installed GIMP, and their Web site and help files do not cover the
problem. I've tried converting iPhoto pictures (JPG) into other formats
with Graphic Converter, but GIMP always gives me an Unknown file type
Hi all,
I'm not able to update KDevelop from /unstable because building
kdelibs3-3.1.1-1 fails. Is this a known issue? If so, what's the fix?

You are going to have to be more specific... There was a bug in kde
Hi,
For the past couple of weeks, I have been unable to do an 'update-all'

What's happening here, and how do I fix it? I don't see anything deadly
farther up in the build listing.

Hi all,
I'm trying to build LinPSK, a ham radio app, on the Mac again (it's
broken because it was written for Qt2 and is not happy with something
about Apple X11 now).
The author used KDevelop, and life will be much easier if I can do
that, too. I've tried a couple of times (using Kdevelop
of weeks ago, but that could
be coincidental. I update Fink through CVS every weekend.

That's it! Thanks very much.
This version appears to be an OSX app and not XDarwin, but if you'll

Hi all,
There's a game my wife enjoys that's in the SuSE Linux version of Gnome
but not in the XDarwin version. It's a variant of mahjongg called
Shi-Sen-Sho (spelling?) and it was in the gnome-games package in Linux.
Is porting this to XDarwin in the plans? With the possible exception of
No, Shisen-sho (found the correct spelling) is not the same as
gnome-mahjongg or xmahjongg. The game is not played quite the same as
mahjongg, but is not-too-distantly related.
My wife just told me that Shisen-Sho is in KDE, not Gnome. Now I suspect
that's the reason it hasn't been ported
Hi all,
As with all else Fink, the new fix-fink works beautifully. It found
22(!) things to repair on my system and doing that cleared up several
little annoyances.
However -- and you knew there had to be a However to this -- one
problem remains. It can't find a replacement fnlib and does

Is there a sound mixer app somewhere in the Fink distribution of Gnome
