I went to HomeDepot today and found the wood stove pellets for $3.29 per 40#
bag. I "peaked" inside to see what they look and smell like. How many bags
will it take to fill an average stall? Also, I checked the
"ingredients"...what is "white wood"? Wo

I've enjoyed the posts on bedding, esp the cheaper alternatives. I have one

eating them...my horse is not a bedding eater, but I did have a small worry
about him picking them up

Several horses have been confirmed to have died of it in NY. There has been
at least one in Rhode Island. In CT they have found dead birds testing
positive for the disease in over 5 towns. The quick spread is being
attibuted to the migration of birds.

Interesting...as I'm paying for my own bedding now this is an interesting
alternative. Were the wood pellets as absorbant as the shavings? Do they
fluff at all or are they fine like sawdust? How do they compare to the
cleanup of sawdust? My feedstore

The waistcoats are called vests or body armor here. There has been some
contrversy about them. Pony Club was going to require them for eventing, but
they are/were expensive and at the time of discussion were not ASTM-SEI
approved. Alot of the kids ride

Also I forgto to add that New York has taken the initiative to make it a law
that EVERONE under the age of 18 must wear an ASTM-SEI appoved helmet when
mounted. Many other states are following this upcoming year with the same
legislation.

Pony Club safety standards say that the water bucket should be at least chest
high. If he can drink out of it a little higher you may want to do that.

In my opinion the peacock stirrups (the rubber band ones) are great as long
as you don't have a tendency to "lean" on the outside wall of your iron. I
used those in my lesson program for a while and had kids break them everyday
due to the leaning problem
