I'd also be nice to get a notification if a recording should start while I'm
watching a(nother) channel. Maybe configurable to force/ask/ignore the scheduled
record.

Can I control my digital cable or satellite from Freevo? I haven't seen any digital

First, the simple question are you running on a custom kernel? I believe
you will have to compile your own kernel for lirc to compile, at least I did
on RH9 (I am no linux guru, so this may not apply to all distros).
If you are all set on the kernel side, then you probably need to manually

Try making a commandline for viewing tv with mplayer.
When that works, try making an mencoder-line.

We don't use eject to control the cdrom anymore, we're using the
ioctl's directly.

Try experimenting with the autosync option.

My record server isn't working at all. When I attempt to run the command
it logs to on the command line I get this:
MEncoder 1.0pre2-3.3.2 (C) 2000-2003 MPlayer Team

You should add the package "eject" to the list if prereq's. If it's not
there hitting "." does not eject the cdrom.

On my box this is caused by too slow cpu.
