I'm pretty sure you're right - most open source applications start as simple
solution and grow into mutated monsters from there ;). I do think the ZF is
in poll position to drive more of those though - the use at will
architecture makes retrofitting existing hacked up solutions extremely easy.
Tine 2.0 looks amazing and what's better it led me to find Ext JS. Now
ZFWiki is going to get a complete makeover (LOL).
It would be great to have a public list of ZF based open source projects.
PHP leads the way in 3 application areas IMHO
1) Bulletin Boards (phpBB, vBulletin etc.)
