Tried it, didn't like it. I found the 12 screen I love in a portable
was too small for using as a full-time desktop. You can use an
external monitor, but the iBook will not work closed as the
powerbooks will.

I use a 12 g4/800 iBook (refurb) that was purchased 18 months ago
from Apple. It has never given me any problems and I have been very
pleased. My only complaint is that it does get warm on the bottom
after an hour or so of steady use. To avoid the heat problem, I

I was just wondering if and how many listers here use Skype to make
long distance phone calls over the internet? It seems to be pretty
popular and much cheaper then others such as Vonage. (Of course 9-1-1

I have similar riders on my policies for my computer and photo

Actually, this has been the most trouble-free upgrade I've done. It
is now loaded on my iBook G4/800, which I did first and tested for
stability, as well as an eMac and my mini. All were done as archive
install, with settings imported, and I had no install problems and

Well, if you have a backup just drag the music folders and drop them on
iTunes. It will reload them into iTunes, make a new iTunes data file
and they will be there to load on the iPod the next time you connect.
Worked like a charm for me yesterday. Now, if you didn't back up your
data before

I've already got a 20GB 4G iPod, but it's associated with my eMac

I am looking at an iCurve stand but so far have resisted. Mine gets
really warm and temps stay around 46 or 47c so may look into a
cooling stand for it.
Most of the devices for sale for cooling PowerBooks and iBooks are
more decoration than function, unless they have fans built into them.
ps--What iBook did you get 12 or 14? Combo drive or Superdrive?
Congrats and have fun!
I have the standard 12 / 1GHz / Combo / 256MB / 30GB Hard Drive /

I have a Backpack that was designed to have a laptop in it, It's got a

A solution to this 'Problem' would be immensely helpful, and

Well, cash is always welocme. ;-) Actually, I remembered seeing this

not to and I deleted the link. But I tried a quick Google and it was

Is it a ASCII password or HEX key? If it is a Hex key you need to start

Okay, I'm stumped. I've got an just-obtained iBook 700 (OS X --

I have a 17 apple Multiscan monitor with the apple-style two-row
plug, that I'd love to hook up to my ibook, but I'm not sure it's
possible. The little video out cable that came with the ibook
connects to a VGA monitor--is there an adapter I could use to switch
it to apple two-row? Has
I've been commissioned to find a MAC powerbook or ibook for my sister.

I had been thinking an ibook might provide more horsepower per doller.

How about this from OWC?
Today I ordered a refurb 12 Ibook 800Mhz G4/256MB/30GB/Combo from the
