Has anyone had a problem with their screen flickering like there's a
candle behind it? It's just annoying enough to bother me when I use
my iBook and just disconcerting enough I wonder if it isn't a sign
the screen's dying...
??

Either the EL element itself is dying, or the board that generates
the necessary high voltages is failing. You're on last legs

This is the G4
it up for net use, which I
have never done on a PC before. I got some problems with IE, but fixed
that by installing Firefox instead... LOL... Better that than having to
fiddle with things on a PC
But anyway... Do anybody have an idea about what might have happened to
my iBook screen

Aase,
I've had two video problems with my G3 900 iBook.
First one was a video card recall, the second was the
beast just not turning on. A totally black screen
could be almost anything

I've got a dual USB iBook with about 3 weeks left on Applecare and just

Klear Screen is used by a number of knowledgeable portable owners.
Others swear that nothing beats plain old water and a lint-free cloth

I use KlearScreen (also known as iKlear). It's maybe not as effective as,
say, window cleaner, but it's a lot safer for your screen
I have an Indigo iBook running OS X 10.2.8. Once in a while, after the
machine has gone to sleep and I wake it up, the screen seems dark
somewhat, especially around the perimeter. And after about 10-15
minutes, it returns to the original brightness and sometimes it stays
that way until it goes
I saw something on eBay made by Macally that looks like a plastic
holder for iBooks and PowerBooks that holds the computer up in the air
so that it cools nicely. The one I saw does not raise the computer a
few inches but holds the computer almost vertical.
The picture showed an iBook in it

I looked through the iBook literature for a picture showing the limits

My 2001 iBook screen has started to flicker just a bit when it comes
out of sleep. If I lower the brightness 1 level it stops, but I don't
like to do that. It's under warranty for a few more months. Is this
something I should get fixed now? It's almost imperceptible
