After that you may check wheter the /dev/nvidia* devices have been created by
devfs as you loaded the module with:
ls -l /dev/nvidia*
on my box this outputs:
root[www]$ls -l /dev/nvidia*
crw---1 momesana root 195, 0 Jan 1 1970 /dev/nvidia0
crw---1
That's a very simple solution, so you will probably have already tried this
but for the unlikely case that you havent ...
Are you able to load the nvidia module?
lsmod should provide you with the list of modules loaded.
Try this:
lsmod | grep nvidia and see if its there.
if not try modprobe and
with the
old kernel-module style. The apmd modules are provided in the old kernel
module style that is indicated by the *.o suffix as opposed to the new *.ko
suffix.
Good luck

Hi again and thanks for your replies.
I have tried the following options to get adsl working:
acpi=off -- worked perfectly but of course I wouldn't be able power down
correctly and since I hate APM, I tried the other options :-|
pci=usepirqmask -- did not work :-(

Hi, all!
This might not be the apropriate place to ask questions related to
non-gentoo-kernels, even more as the questions are about a testing kernel

questions.
After having heard so much positive stuff about the upcoming

Its actually a vanilla-kernel that I obtained at kernel.org so I actually

Re-emerge the kernel and then read what it says at the end...
I see :-)
* Please note that ptyfs support has been removed from devfs
* in the later 2.5.x kernels, and you have to compile it in now,
* or else you will get errors when trying to open a pty.
* The option is File systems-Pseudo
unrecognized during development, so I assume this is only a question of
configuration and tweaking.
Is there anyone with a solution to offer?

Hi, all
maybe this is not the right place to post a question about setting up the

I can't manage to change DocumentRoot to anything else but the default
DocumentRoot /home/httpd/htdocs
when I put my files in there it works fine but when I put them somewhere else
changes with perl
and its configuration files. Maybe the problems here are due to those
changes.
Nevertheless, I managed to solve it after running the above mentioned command.
