When replacing the brake pads, is it really necessary to replace those
spring clips or support pads (as Yamaha calls them)
The price for this simple spring clip is $22 for the front brake!
And, thats at PowersportsPro.
By the way, the service manual also recommends replacing the broke hoses
That's how I've always done it Henry. Gotta tel you though, next time I
might just seal that hole and forget about the silly hose. I've never
had fuel spillage in there.

Nope, it was the hose from the steering tube boot.
The one you're describing is a thin one and I've had lots of fun
disconnecting and re-connecting it in the past :)

You were correct, my mystery hose has been reconnected to the steering
tube boot.
Actually the pic I found in the Steering Head Inspection section shows
it clearer.

The rider's head size and shape has a lot to do with it too. Arai's
helmets come in two types of shapes so finding a model that fits is
easier than most brands. They make "long oval" and "round oval" shapes.

Whatever it is, its sending email in HTML format which sucks.

Seems as if we both do similar riding. I'm using Dunlop D-207's 120/70
Front and 180/55 Rear.
I'm getting 8,000 miles out of the rear and 10-12,000 out of the front
before the cupping gets too severe and bar wobble creeps in.

the clutch switch that's actuated by the clutch lever itself, worked it
back and forth several times and even disconnected the switch

When you remove the seat, you'll see a rectangular box with a

down.
My problem occurs when trying to start the bike in gear with the
sidestand up and the clutch pulled in. And its only been
intermittant under those conditions.

Bike is in first gear...sidestand is retracted...clutch lever pulled
inengine kill switch is set to run...press start button...

S-100 Wheel Cleaner is by far the best I've used, and I've used
them all.
If the wheels are particularly grungy, let the stuff sit on for 15
minutes or so. A bit of elbow grease using a psonge might be
necessary.
Don't use any kind of abrasive cleaner.

If you spun the rear wheel as the bike was on the center stand, the
ABS warning light should be flashing. Is your's continously on?
If its flashing, turning the ignition off and the engine kill switch to off
then both back on should re-set it.

Yes you can go to a 530 chain but that entails replacing the
sprockets.

532 chain.

Bike Week is just nature's way of improving the overall gene pool of
motorcycle pilots.
I always drain my oil with the bike on the sidestand to get as much
of the old oil out as possible. Then I put the thing on the
centerstand before removing the old oil filter. Of course I leave it on
the centerstand when re-filling.

Here's a little tip that will save a lot of pain.
Before you bring your bike in for service, strip off all the plastic
cowlings yourself and leave them at home.
You can put the assorted screws into marked dixie cups until you
reach the point that you can strip and re-assemble in your sleep.
