Not sure its that realistic of advisable for many tbh. It's actually
possibly a temporary solution, and I think its a good general rule of thumb
but I don't think its an optimal solution. There's always X amount of

Its running from the Administrator account. Playing the server last night
we were on Inferno with 6 players (no bots) for about 30minutes before the
crash occured, there was nothing in the logs to indicate the problem,
inferno seems more common to crashes than other maps though.

By the way, are you sure that this is not a hardware problem? May be you
should check temperature, coolers and run some memory tests?

Fact is if you can come up with something static, I'll give you
and example where it falls flat on its face making totally the
wrong decision.
This is NOT a problem which has a static solution, any attempt
to do so would be a huge waste of time.

Thats a good point. Temperature is ok and i have recently added another

I would imagine that all runtimes would be installed by Windows or if not

I would expect the server to fail to start completely. But its running for

I don't believe the liblist is used anymore... secure is done via
commandline or gui.
commandline ex:
C:\HLServer3\tfc\serverdoc\serverdoc.exe C:\HLServer3\hlds.exe -game
tfc -console +sport 29030 -ip xx.xx.xx.xx +port 27030 +maxplayers 19
+map concmap_r +rcon_password yourpass +log on +secure 1

The command is and has always been -secure. Not +secure.
And here is the current liblist. Which is were it is used. And there it's
secure 1 as you can planly see.

I do this already in my management system. I used to use XCPU.exe, but
about a year ago I switched to using my own code (which also integrates
a sandbox ... to eliminate those plugin problems that people were
complaining about -- on hlds_linux i think)

Servers are actually secure by default when fully updated. There is no
command to turn it on, just disable it using -insecure in the command line.
You might also need to add -sport 27XXX to the command line to tell VAC what
port to use.
