yes that's an option. I prefer to not have to recompile at every kernel

I use Centos 4. Centos 4 uses a 1000hz kernel. other distros have
backed that off to 500 or 250hz. any distro will work..you ahve to
figure out what hz your distro's kernel uses and either limit your
server to the kernel hz or recompile to kernel to a faster hz.

I think this is a kernal by kernal issue. Because I have heard that some
linux systems run very well using the pingboost cvar and some others simply
suck when using it.

YMMV...pingboost works great for me without issues. I have one custom
map that lags up the server but the rest of my custom maps run jsut fine.

If I try to use any of the pingboost settings, all my clients get a ton of
choke and loss.

The FPS_max command is not used at all. it's only for source servers.
Sys_ticrate can be changed with rcon, when you say console, are you
referring to the clients console or the HLDS console. if your talking
about the HLDS console then ye
here is what i run for a 500 fps server:
in my startup:
sudo -u hlds sh -c "cd /servers/hlds/; screen -A -m -d -S hlds
./hlds_run -game cstrike -debug +port 27015 -autoupdate +maxplayers 14
+ip 192.168.255.201 +map cs_assault -pingboost 3"
relevant server.cfg settings:
sys_ticrate 500

Thanks :)
So by adding '+fps_max XXX' and '+sys_ticrate XXX' in the command line to
start up the server, that should lock it in? or can a client still change it
via console with rcon?
@ anyone:
To have servers run at a very consistant 16 fps, 333 fps, and 500 fps...
what kind of sys_ticrate

Hello,
I have enabled the logging in HLTV with logfile 1, it write a logfile, but
every log entry is without the time and date stamp. How can I enable time
and date stamp for logging? I have not seen any suitable command to enable
this.

Right, they add all of that info to the command line.
This way there customers cannot change it. At least that's the way it is in
hl1mods.
sys_ticrate can be aded to either the server.cfg or CMD line.
