The update today seems to have broken any servers owned by a linux user with
a uppercase username. User "joe" launches fine, while user "Joe" on the same
machine crashes on launch with:
Model models/props_c17/lamppost03a_off.mdl not found and models/error.mdl
couldn't be loadedModel models/props_c

hope this can be fixed asap its going to be a nightmare recreating
all these users otherwise.

Hello everyone,
After the update about 1/3 of my l4d2 servers crash on start. I've removed
the addons folder completely, removed the server.cfg and am launching the
game manually on the servers that refuse to start and the output
im receiving is:
./srcds_run -console +ip iphere +port 27015 -game
Despite setting tickrate to 100 (-tickrate 100) in the launch command it
appears that the new orangebox css only runs at 66 tick. All of the servers
I've joined are the same. Is this just a side-effect of orangebox? Are there
any plans to change this back?
Thanks!
Hi, I've run the update tool several times but when I launch the game it
says restarting for update. I've done this on multiple machines, I'm running
debian lenny amd64.
./steam -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir . -verify_all

Has anyone been able to successfully update a server yet? I've made it to

Yeah no idea, strange that its happening on machines from new york to los

Thank you very much for the info. I have been manually setting master
servers, i've run through about 6 so far without any luck. When i remove and
re-add the servers it does fix the problem for about 10 minutes, then the
server is dropped from the master list again. I haven't tried port 27012 yet

absolutely not, this is affecting all of my public linux servers, across

Has anyone had any success in dealing with this? On my linux server im
receiving the same A2C_PRINT error for every masterserver i add, and the
server quickly drops off the master server list.

Just wondering if anyone has tracked down a possible cause for this yet? Is
it related to setting sched_fifo? whenever this happens there seems to be no
logs and being locked out of ssh ive never seen what is actually happening.

Hello everyone, it seems that the search key and steam group functions are
horribly unreliable. For example i am often unable to join the server via
search key unless i first restart the server then join, this seems to
refresh it with the steam servers somehow? Anyways, i don't believe I'm

I have experienced this EXACT behavior on several machines, all running
debian lenny 64bit. I stopped running the forks after it started taking
entire machines down.

I agree, getting that back would be fantastic. It would also be nice if they
stopped updating the host.txt/motd constantly as well.

Would someone with a working passworded linux server mind pastebinning their
server.cfg and launch command just in case we're all doing something
retarded?

Also, i cannot connect to a password protected server, on connect it asks
for the password but after entering it nothing happens.

Is rcon working for anyone else? I'm able to start the server, get VAC

This is happening to me as well, across multiple machines with varying intel
chipsets (5000v/5100) running debian lenny. It seems to be VAC/zblock
related, if vac is disabled zblock works fine, no crashes. Same if you try
it the other way around. Combine the two and it will crash all day long.

I'm having the same issues starting a few days ago. Multiple CSS servers
crashing without fail during matches, all running no addon's. Is valve to
blame for this? Nothing has changed on my end and talking with others it
seems many other servers have been crashing as well.
