The Atlantic Brass Quintet is coming to Sonoma State University to do a
workshop for 4 days June - June 10th
My wife's church was planning on a Mozart Flute/Harp duet this summer as
part of an ongoing fundraising series for a local charity. The flautist,
a studio musician from LA cannot escape his duties in Shakey Town, and
so the opportunity has presented itself to do a Horn/Harp piece. The

My son, a non-music major though horn-playing-in-the-band sophomore, goes to
CSULB. They do not currently have a marching band (nothing to march for - no
football team, though apparently there is considerable angst on campus about
this, not having a football team, that is.)

Also, CSUN (Calif. State University Northridge) has one of the most incredible
Horn teachers in the known universe - Dr. David Hoover, and one of the finest
music education programs in the nation.

I just received an email from USC indicating that James Thatcher (and
another lady whose name I don't recognize nor recall) is now on faculty
at USC. This is good. Curiously was the omission of Rick Todd's name on
the flyer. Has he left? If so, does anyone know where he went?

The great Maynard Ferguson died last night.
I remember playing a gig with him one time in SoCal many years ao. He

I've counted in binary for years - 1024 on both hands. Only gets me into trouble on church gigs on 4, 128, or 132.
I gotta learn this - I sense a GREAT addition to my Intro to Counting
