Great post and awesome work. It’s all very exciting, especially as it’s a great
opportunity for Emir and Maning to bring some cross-regional insights to the
project (and bring them back home in turn).
I know it’s a ways off, but I’d be really interested to hear how the InaSAFE
Paul is saying that the OSM wiki license is actually more restrictive than
LearnOSM, so it’s a problem with that license. We would have to make our
license more restrictive – and hence less useful to others – if we wanted to go
that way. Which is super frustrating of course.

GADM's maintainer is notoriously un-responsive to requests so I wouldn't hold
your breath about getting open data licensed information that way.

the Philippines and with it the need for highly detailed data. I'm here working
with the REACH Initiative to conduct a rapid shelter assessment which will be
used to inform shelter reconstruction
? Also, when the colleagues conduct the damage assessment
in the field, it might be feasible that they also assess more things
than the damage and tag it, following the Humanitarian Data Model?

All, please switch to the low resolution cloudless images wherever possible. We
had a volunteer in yesterday who did some imagery wizardry to strip out as much
cloud cover as possible from stock LANDSAT imagery. That should make it
possible to spot and trace major roads, especially on the
