Hi,
If the Lib is a pdse you can verify that sys1.parmlib(igdsms00) is set
to PDSESHARING(EXTENDED) this should allow deleting in this case. This
permits member level access.

An additional option is to use ispf 3.4 for the file(s) and then enter the cmd
SAVE MYFILE and this will create a file 'userdi.myfile.datasets' that
contains all the info you need.

Not sure, but it might be helpful to insure system parmlib member igdsms00 is
set to PDSESHARING(EXTENDED) on all systems. The default used to be
PDSESHARING(NORMAL).

We have used IEHPROGM to SCRATCH(delete) members in rare cases where other
utilities fail. Also, used for rare case of uncatlg for a bad file name - ex:
UNCATLG DSNAME=XXX.CBSYYY2.AB.AUDIT.HISTORY .G0005V00 NSCR

Hi Ralph, We have been using PDSESHARING (EXTENDED) FOR 5 YEARS with only 1
minor blip and it was fixed by adding the below statements to IGDSMS00:
PDSE_MONITOR(YES,60,30)
PDSESHARING(EXTENDED)
PDSE_RESTARTABLE_AS(YES)
PDSE1_MONITOR(YES)
PDSE1_LRUCYCLES(15)
PDSE1_LRUTIME(60)
, and a lot less blocks on the 20th large block
tape since more data should have been stored on the large block tapes.)

Hi, One option is to do an ISPF 3.4 dslist and then enter - SAVE MYFILE
on the command line. This will create a disk file named
'userid.myfile.datasets' that contains all the info and can be edited and
sorted as needed. Or try:
//STEP1 EXEC PGM=IKJEFT01,DYNAMNBR=20
Hello All,
Anyone had success with performance gains in run time and fewer tapes
being created when using z/OS Large Block Interface(LBI)? We are on R1.11 and
have created tapes with blksize of 256k(262144) and the block count is reduced
by a factor of 8, but we do not see any
Hi John, Do the VSAM files show COMP-FORMT and
USER-DATA-SIZE--9636537000
COMP-USER-DATA-SIZE-2831001090 in the listcat(s)? This
verifies the SMS compression is on. Also, you could try SMS utility ADRDSSU
for backup speed. Lastly, if SMS compress is on,
Ed, Not that I know of. BTW, what is #39,t mean? I see it frequently, is
it encrypted cursing? hahaha

Have you tried using FBS vs. FB ? This is for fixed block standard and
recognizes the last block can be shorter and not a full block.

Hello Experts,
I am asking for opinions on the ramifications or value of using the MODE C

have full access to SMF and RMF. My brief testing showed 3 to 10 times faster

Hi, If you have PDS85 or PDS86 utility from the CBT tape - it can repair the

Also, RECFM could have been changed to RECFM=U vs. FB if an inappropriate

Hello All,
A slick little SDSF command for newbies or those that may have forgot
it follows:
Enter ST+ with prefix * and owner * then browse some of the files. If
your system has been used somewhat normally, you should see output from months
and probably years in the past.
Hello,
We still have no solution. We checked the MCL and it was good.
