The dump is loaded from spool onto a CMS disk with DUMP LOAD, after
that you can use dump tools to read it.
Your error code is PGT004, which means VM ran out of
Thanks Rob for a quick reply will try to do a DUMP LOAD from my VM.

Please note that the correct spelling is
DUMPLOAD
- one word, not two.
From HELP CP DUMPLOAD:
DUMPLOAD

But, in most cases the dump for a PGT004 isn't useful, just allocate more

So DUMPLOAD isn't very useful. If you use DUMPLOAD, remember that the file

Greetings,
I am trying to set up some automation to try to retry stuck LPR
printing. Currently, every 30 minutes we check the RSCS queues for files
that are older than 2 hours old and if there are some to have our help
desk do the following commands on a stuck printer.
DRAIN printerid
Hi Mike,
Don't do use a START command. It will process the queued files, then
ignore any subsequent arrivals. Instead do a DEFINE printerid ASTART.
This will start the printer for all currently queued file, and leave it
ready to process new arrivals.

Hi Mike,
Didn't look at the first part carefully. You can replace the DRAIN,
FLUSH, START and CHANGE with a simple STOP and DEFINE sequence. That's
how we handle it.

How do you know that the printer is stuck? If the job has been in
the queue or partly sent by RSCS, it could be that the printer needs
intervention, like needing paper or toner. Doing what you do will cause
these jobs to restart and hang again!

So just
STOP printerid
DEFINE printerid ASTART (no other operands).

You have a very good point. In our case, most of the reports come from
CICS and are just a few pages.
I will however check the number of blocks for the file currently being
stuck and if it is greater than a certain number of blocks then the
procedure will not do the commands.
Thanks
Mike
Hi Mike,
That's it. Nice and simple (like me).

One of our operators has asked if there's a way to send alerts from VM
to Tivoli Business Systems Manager. I looked at IBM's web site, and it
lists products for z/OS and distributed systems that can send alerts,
but doesn't mention VM. Is there a product or home-grown solution that
will do this?
Is anyone on the list from BMC Software, Please contact me offline ..
Thanks

VM can send email to pagers and cellphones. VM can send status messages to

tcpip handshake protocol, then something can be written to send your alerts to
TBMS.
