I'm running TXT2PDF 04.147 in an 8MB machine as a PIPE stage.
My PIPE reads NETDATA files directly from the RDR, calls the TXT2PDF
stage and then sends the output directly to an RSCS printer. So
there are no intermediate files involved. The largest report I ever
processed was about 500

I am running version 9.107 of TXT2PDF. The problem existed with prior

We have a 232,000 page report containing license plate data for the
entire state. It has been going to fiche and the new direction is PDF.
When I run this thing through TXT2PDF I eventually I get
virtual storage size.
Hope this helps.

I've finally gotten around to uploading a new version of TXT2PDF. This
one adds TrueType embedding and subsetting, better mapping of Unicode
characters, GPLv2 licensed, and some other minor changes.
You can get the it from:

I certainly hope they prove helpful to other members of the

I downloaded the txt2pdf zip file. I unzipped it. It looks like it is an
IEBCOPY unloaded PDS.
What is the procedure for getting txt2pdf.xmit to Z/VM and deblocking it
into its separate files?
Thanks.

It is fun to do the impossible.
Jim - you want to go to http://homerow.net/rexx/txt2pdf/ and download the
text or vmarc flavor of the txt2pdf code.
The zip file on my website contains the code in a tso transmit format for
use in the z/OS world

Hi Folks,
I haven't done much with TXT2PDF for like 3 years(!), but I finally got the itch
to play with it again and have added 2 new features that ppl have asked for in
the past:
TrueType font embedding
Unicode mapping
The first one, of course, allows you to use most TrueType fonts in your
We use TXT2PDF in a service machine every day. I think the use of
TrueType fonts is great. I don't know if we would ever play with the
translation tables. What ever it uses now seems to work just fine for us.

We use TXT2PDF all the time in our Z/VM environment.
We did make a minor change to have the PDF open with bookmarks visable.
You have done an excellent job Leland. Thanks.

However, there is no encryption in the VM version, only z/OS version.
I use the VM version as a PIPE stage to read input from the RDR and
send it directly to RSCS without any intermediate files.

Thanks for correcting the URL I gave for TXT2PDF.
We use TXT2PDF to send print for student transcripts directly to a PDF
capable printer. The university seal and registrar's signature are
included in the PDF so they don't have to be pre-printed on the form.
